bishop tuff

The area between the mountains from Lake Crowley on its north end to the mouth of the Owens Valley gorge just north of Bishop is underlain by the Bishop tuff and was our second site of art making. The Bishop tuff was erupted from an ancient volcano in the present location of Lake Crowley. The Owens River cut the Owens Gorge through the tuff.
